EYE EXAMINATION

NHS  ENTITLEMENT

Since April 2006, everyone in Scotland is entitled to a free NHS eye examination. For most people this will be carried out every two years, but there are many groups who may be seen more frequently. If you are in any doubt, please contact us and we will advise you how often you should be seen.

HELP WITH THE COST OF SPECTACLES

There is still a facility to provide help with spectacles under the NHS. This comes in the form of a voucher, the value of which depends on your prescription. This voucher can be used towards the cost of spectacles or contact lenses. Not all opticians provide free spectacles in exchange for this voucher and, indeed, there is no obligation for them to do so.

However, at LOOK OPTICIANS, we still provide the option of free spectacles for patients who qualify for a voucher. Don’t forget, you can trade up and get a nicer frame but still get your lenses free. Our staff will be able to give you advice on your entitlement and, in certain cases, can phone to find out what benefit you are in receipt of.
