Sunglasses

You would be forgiven for wondering why we bother to stock sunglasses in this part of the world! However, despite our interesting climate, the sunglass market is reasonably buoyant and we stock several ranges of quality sunglasses, as well as many unbranded and less expensive makes.

POLAROID

One of the best known names in the sunglass world, Edwin Land of Polaroid invented the polarised sheet in 1929 and went on to incorporate it in sunglasses, originally known as “Polaroid Day Glasses”. The brand now produces a large range of adults` and childrens` sunglasses at reasonable prices. Polarisation cuts out reflected glare from surfaces such as water or snow and makes the lenses extremely efficient and comfortable to wear.

MAUI JIM

This more recent name uses high technology multi layered lenses, incorporating polarisation and anti reflection coatings. Modern, stylish frame shapes make this a rival to the better known Oakley brand. Some of the designs can be ordered with Maui Jim prescription lenses, although, due to the shape and style, the power range is limited.

BOLLE

This company is known for ski goggles but also makes a good range of sunglasses. Some of these are available with an insert that can be glazed to prescription, ideal for contact lens wearers as it allows them to wear the sunspecs with or without their contact lenses. Some styles also offer interchangeable lenses for different light conditions.

SWIMMING GOGGLES

We can supply swimming goggles made to your prescription. Straightforward prescriptions are available “off the shelf” whilst stronger prescriptions are usually available to order.
